PhD Programs
All doctoral students of natural sciences at the LIT are integrated into the structured graduate programs offered by the Regensburg International Graduate School of Life Sciences (RIGeL) or the Medical Faculty at the Biomedical International Graduate School (BioMediGS).
The central elements of a postgraduate education include:
- Structured graduate programs with compulsory modules (good scientific practice, biostatistics etc.)
- Mentoring and regular progress reports
- Supervision arrangements, laboratory work and literature seminars
- Regular research retreats
- Continuous evaluation of the training programs
PhD students at the LIT are represented in the so-called PhD Council and two representatives are sent to the regular Staff Council meetings with the LIT Board of Directors.
The LIT supports PhD students by:
- Funding speakers for PhD seminars
- Career development activities (job fairs, mentoring programs etc.)
- Soft skills courses
- Laboratory exchange programs
- International doctoral recruitment
