During his visit, Dr. Harald Schwartz met with Prof. Philipp Beckhove, Scientific Director LIT, and Prof. Markus Feuerer, Deputy Scientific Director LIT. The leading scientists presented the latest developments in the LIT’s cutting-edge research.

They highlighted innovations developed at the LIT, like TRUCKs and AIRs. These innovative technologies represent novel strategies for addressing complex diseases. The TRUCKs, or T cells redirected for antigen-unrestricted cytokine-initiated killing, are engineered to deliver targeted therapies for cancer. AIRs, or antigen-induced receptors, are biosensors for inflammation, which can be used to reprogram Treg cells. Both advancements highlight the cutting-edge work being conducted at the institute and their potential to transform patient care.

Dr. Harald Schwartz was impressed by the institute’s contributions to scientific innovation and emphasized the importance of governmental support for research initiatives that combat common diseases such as cancer, autoimmunity, and chronic inflammation. The visit concluded with a discussion about the importance of research funding by the government.
