LIT delegation visits Karolinska Institutet to strengthen ties in cellular cancer therapy

Leading experts met at the 2nd Annual Workshop of the Center for Cellular Cancer Therapy (C3T) in Stockholm to discuss the future of cellular cancer therapies. 13 members of the Leibniz Institute for Immunotherapy (LIT) made a strong impression reflecting its commitment to advancing immunotherapy and global collaboration. A highlight of this meeting in September was the keynote by Prof. Philipp Beckhove, Scientific Director of the LIT, who presented the institute’s recent progress on overcoming cancer immune resistance using CAR T cells with inducible payloads.

LIT postdocs and PhD students delivered key presentations on immune resistance, CAR T modulation strategies, and tumor–immune cell interactions. Meghma Mukherjee from the LIT Interventional Immunology Division won the Poster Prize for her PhD work on tumor-intrinsic resistances in pancreatic cancer.

The workshop was hosted and co-chaired by Prof. Carmen Gerlach, underscoring LIT’s central role as both a scientific hub and a connector between European and international partners. Beyond a scientific meeting, the workshop deepened collaborations between LIT, Karolinska Institutet, and other global centers, reinforcing LIT’s strategic vision to accelerate cellular immunotherapy through innovation and partnership. In addition to scientific exchange, getting to know each other personally was also an important part of the meeting.
