SPD Politician Ruth Waldmann, MdL, Visits Leibniz Institute for Immunotherapy (LIT)
In July, Ruth Waldmann, a member of the Bavarian State Parliament for the SPD and representing the district of Upper Bavaria, visited the LIT in Regensburg, accompanied by her team. Discussions with the LIT’s Scientific Director, Prof. Philipp Beckhove, focused on scientific innovations, public funding, and the future of research in Germany.

Ruth Waldmann, MdL, who serves as deputy chairperson of the committee on health and care at the Bavarian State Parliament, recently visited the LIT accompanied by her team. The visit provided an insightful opportunity to engage directly with cutting-edge immunological research, to foster dialogue and to discuss key topics affecting the scientific community.
The institute’s Scientific Director, Prof. Philipp Beckhove, welcomed the visitors with a tour of the facilities, followed by a comprehensive presentation highlighting the institute’s research projects and innovations.
Following the presentation, an in-depth discussion took place, covering themes such as the crucial role of public funding in supporting scientific research, the opportunities and challenges facing research in Germany, working conditions in the research sector, as well as plans for the institute’s expansion and further development.
Both Prof. Beckhove and Waldmann’s delegation considered the visit a great success, fostering valuable dialogue between policymakers and researchers.
