“Book a Scientist”
Through “Book a Scientist,” non-experts can spend 25 minutes with a professional from the Leibniz Institute for Immunotherapy (LIT), gaining insights on their areas of expertise. Dr. Dr. Roland Schelker, Head of the Translation Group “T-Cell Fitness” and Meghma Mukherjee, PhD student at the Research Division of Interventional Immunology, offer individual conversations about their research. Ask them everything you’ve always wanted to know!
When?
The individual 25-minute one-on-one conversations will take place online on June 3, 2025, 10:00-11:30 AM or 4:00-5:30 PM.
How?

Topics of LIT experts?
Dr. Dr. Roland Schelker:
“Next-generation T cell therapies for the treatment of severe cancer diseases” (English and German)
How are genetically engineered T cell therapies developed, manufactured, and provided in early-phase clinical trials for patients with severe cancer diseases?
Meghma Mukherjee
“How Does the Immune System Fight Cancer?” (English)
The immune system fights cancer by detecting abnormal proteins on cancer cells. T cells attack these cells, but cancer can evade them using “immune checkpoints” that turn off immune responses. Immunotherapy targets these checkpoints to boost T cell activity, helping the body recognize and destroy cancer while maintaining a balance to avoid harming healthy cells.
