Strategic Collaboration for Advancing Immunotherapies in Rheumatic Diseases

The executive boards of the Leibniz Institute for Immunotherapy (LIT) and the German Rheumatology Research Center (DRFZ) in Berlin have signed a “Memorandum of Understanding”. The two Scientific Directors, Prof. Dr. Philipp Beckhove and Prof. Dr. Eicke Latz, aim for strategic cooperation in the areas of research, training, scientific infrastructure, and data exchange, including the establishment of a joint working group.

Through this intensive exchange, LIT and DRFZ endeavor to pool their resources and expertise to promote innovative research projects in the field of immunotherapy and rheumatology, to increase scientific expertise, and to advance the development of new therapeutic approaches.

Knowledge transfer through joint training programs for scientists and students are to be developed, as is the joint use of scientific infrastructure for collaborative projects. In addition, there will be structured and confidential data exchange regarding research data, publications, and results from clinical studies.

A joint research group, comprising members from both institutions, will have access to the scientific infrastructure at both sites. The boards of both Leibniz Institutes will regularly monitor and expand the progress of the collaboration.
