“We are extremely pleased that the LIT is once again awarded the TOTAL E-QUALITY award. We believe that a work environment characterized by genuine equal opportunity and diversity is the foundation for the innovative and groundbreaking research carried out by our staff at the highest scientific level. Pioneering scientific discoveries and medical therapies are constantly produced by a diverse community of scientists at the LIT. Different perspectives, experiences, and views drive our research,” says Prof. Philipp Beckhove, Scientific Director.
The LIT follows an equal opportunity strategy focusing on reconciling work and family and “gender-equitable personnel management”. Measures such as “family-friendly meeting times,” “childcare during school holidays,” and “individual working time arrangements for special burdens due to caregiving responsibilities” contribute to better work-life balance.
To increase the proportion of women in scientific leadership positions and to attract and retain excellent female scientists, the LIT strives for proactive recruitment of female postdoctoral researchers and professors. This is supported by membership in the “Dual Career Network Northern Bavaria,” which promotes the recruitment of scientists and their partners from the postdoc level onwards.
About the TOTAL E-QUALITY award: Organisations from the private sector, science and administration and associations with a minimum of 15 employees that successfully implement gender equality in their personnel and organisation policies can be granted the TOTAL E-QUALITY award.
