Leibniz Programme for Women Professors: Prof. Dr. Katharina Höfer to join Leibniz Institute for Immunotherapy in Regensburg

The Senate of the Leibniz Association has approved nearly €3 million through the Leibniz Programme for Women Professors to support three internationally renowned female scientists, including Katharina Höfer, who is set to join the LIT in Regensburg.

The RNA biochemist plans to establish a new research division at the LIT, where she will use advanced RNA technologies to reprogram immune cells in the human body so that they can better recognize and fight cancer cells. Her research is expected to lay the groundwork for a new generation of personalized RNA therapies.

The LIT extends its warm congratulations to Katharina Höfer on her success in the Leibniz Programme for Women Professors and is delighted to welcome such an outstanding scientist to the research team.

The other selected candidates of the Leibniz Programme for Women Professors 2026 are Katja Poppenhäger (Leibniz Institute for Astrophysics Potsdam) and Josefin Stiller (Senckenberg Nature Research Society Frankfurt am Main).
