LIT Researcher Awarded Prestigious Marie Skłodowska-Curie European Research Fellowship to Cambridge University

The Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) is the European Commission’s flagship program designed to support early-career researcher development and foster scientific excellence. Dr. Jeremy Baldwin’s research lies at the crossroads of immunology, synthetic biology and cancer research. During the upcoming fellowship, he will focus on engineering mitochondria for immunotherapy applications. His MSCA research proposal received a perfect score of 100.00% by EC evaluators - an exceptionally rare score achieved by less than 1% of the over 10,500 total MSCA applications.

Baldwin has been at the Leibniz Institute for Immunotherapy (LIT) for over 4 years, and has an extensive academic track record with more than 35 publications and industry reports (2,000+ citations, h-index 21), including first-author papers in Cell and Nature Reviews Immunology. Baldwin originally completed a combined PhD/Master of Business (Research Development and Management) in Australia and prior to joining the LIT, he conducted postdoctoral training in cancer immunology in the US and Europe, thanks to the support of a Fulbright Fellowship, a Sir Winston Churchill Fellowship and an Endeavour Research Fellowship.

“The LIT is a unique research ecosystem”, says Baldwin and explains what attracted him to move to Regensburg: “The LIT has state-of-the-art laboratory infrastructure, a GMP cell manufacturing facility, is integrated within the University Hospital Regensburg (UKR), guided by internationally renowned group of principal investigators and supported by a distinguished scientific advisory board – all the necessary components to facilitate the seamless translation of medical discoveries and innovation into clinic applications.” Baldwin hopes to maintain collaboration with the LIT at Cambridge University and wants to continue to push the boundaries of science.

The LIT congratulates on Dr. Jeremy Baldwins fellowship and is looking forward to future collaborations! © LIT
