This research prize is awarded to promote basic, translational and clinical research in the field of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and cellular therapy. His work, “Single-cell chromatin accessibility landscape identifies tissue repair program in human regulatory T cells,” identified for the first time a population of human regulatory immune cells with the specific property of promoting tissue homeostasis and regeneration, and described their occurrence in healthy volunteers and tumor patients.
“I am honored to receive the 2021 DAG-HSZT Research Award. This price acknowledges the incredibly hard work from all authors of this study. It is also a motivation to move forward and continue on our endeavor to gain a deeper understanding of the human immune system”, comments Michael Delacher.
